The Bells of Assumption are Ringing!!

The Assumption Bell Tower Dedication and Farewell to Fr Noesen turned out to be a huge success!!! Fr. Bader, along with Fr. Noesen and Deacon Bevan held a beautiful ceremony to bless and dedicate the bell and bell tower, after the 4pm mass on Saturday 9/26. The weather was perfect as over 150 parishioners of both  Assumption and IC in Braidwood attended the ceremony which adjourned with the ringing of the new bell system. Following the dedication, parishioners gathered in the rear parking lot to wish Fr. Noesen and Deacon Bevan farewell, and  enjoy a delicious meal provided by Eric Dearth’s food truck, Picture Me Smokin’.

The Assumption Stewardship Committee offered home baked desserts and caramels for a small donation, which resulted in $1,061 income, along with a $600 matching fund from FCSLA. These proceeds will go into the church operating fund. Many thanks to  parishioners that volunteered their bakery and time in packaging the goods. And without the parishioners who purchased bakery and made donations, thi fundraiser would not have been a success!

Special thanks to Tricia DiChristofano, our parish Secretary, for creating the online registration system, and to Alex Kuhel and Curtis Grove, for ensuring that signage, sound system and set up was properly done to meet all current restrictions.

And finally, thank you and farewell Father Noesen and Deacon Bevan. You and your work here will always be fondly remembered by the parishioners of Assumption and  Immaculate Conception Churches.

Bell Installation

Tuesday, July 14, 2020

On Tuesday, July 14th, crew members of D Construction lifted and installed our refurbished, century old bell and cross, back into the tower of Assumption Church. Verdin Bells & Clocks of Cincinnati OH beautifully completed the bell refurbishment. All new electrical components were installed and Clennon Electric of Wilmington completed the lighting of the tower for the bell and cross. A special thanks to Curtis Grove for leading this project from start to finish and Mike Slanicky for donating his time and talent in wiring the church attic to accommodate the bell chime system.  Additionally, project was made possible through funding provided by the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association of Beechwood, OH, FCSLA Branch 53 of Joliet, and a generous anonymous parishioner of Slovak descent.

At a later date to be determined, Fr. Robert Noesen plans to return to Assumption where he and our pastor, Fr. Raed Bader, will bless and dedicate the new bell, cross and tower. The project will be captured in the Memorial Book in the church narthex, In Memory of all deceased and living  Slovak people everywhere.

Please take a few minutes to stop and see the beautiful new Bell Tower at Assumption Church!
